What it is

Khalifah is a voxel sandbox for Muslim families, built for children roughly five to twelve. In it a child places and breaks blocks of sand, marble, glazed tile and gold; shapes a village; plants a date palm; and prays on a carpet when the adhan calls. A small madrasah inside the world teaches Arabic letters, salah, and seven short surahs — gently, and only when the child goes looking for them.

Children in the same family can play together on one computer, and friends can join over the internet with a five-character room code. There is no account to make. Nothing to pay for. Nothing is sent anywhere except what two friends choose to share with each other.

What it isn't

More than the feature list, this is why families choose it:

A few moments from the world

The madrasah interior at daybreak
The madrasah at daybreak, where the day's lessons wait.
A child praying on a carpet near the mihrab
Salah on a laid-down carpet. The villagers join when the adhan calls.
The Quran stand with a surah open
The Quran stand holds seven short surahs. Reading unlocks them one at a time.
Room-code share screen — a parent sends five letters to a cousin and both children land in the same village.
Playing together — the five-letter room code.

How the learning works

Inside the madrasah are seven short classes. A child walks in, sits at a cushion, and the lesson begins — never earlier, never prescribed. Nothing is graded. Nothing is tracked.

  • Arabic letters
  • Qur'an at the stand
  • Wudu
  • Salah
  • Manners (adab)
  • Pattern and design
  • History of the first community

The game does not recite, does not teach tajweed, and points back to a parent and a teacher for anything that matters. This is a doorway, not a replacement.

Playing together

A parent (or an older sibling) opens the game, shares a five-character room code, and a cousin, a classmate, a visiting friend joins the same village. The connection runs peer-to-peer over WebRTC — there is no Khalifah server between two friends, and no stranger can wander in. Single-player works fully offline; airplane mode is fine.

Runs on the computer you already have

The quality slider is automatic. On a strong desktop the world is sharp and far-reaching; on a modest school laptop it quietly shrinks the distances and keeps the frame rate kind. There is no configuration a child needs to touch.

A note about money

Khalifah is free and will stay free. There are no accounts to make, no ads, and nothing to buy inside the game. If it becomes part of your family's week and you'd like to help build the next expansion, you can donate below. Every rial goes back into the game — new lands, new classes, new tools. May every family it helps be sadaqah jariyah for those who supported it, insha'Allah.

100% goes back into the game.
